
MARK BENEVOLENT FUND |
This Fund was founded in the year 1868 for the purpose of rendering assistance
to Mark Master Masons in distress and to their widows and children. The rules governing the administration of the Fund of Benevolence of the Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons are to be found in section IX of the Book of Constitutions and Regulations - 157 to 183. Regulation 162. (a) states that “Subject to the provisions of Regulations 163 to 183 the Board (of the Fund of Benevolence) may make grants to Mark Master Masons or their wives, widows, sisters or other dependants or children . . . provided that such grants are for the relief of need”. A Brother or late Brother or his dependants as defined above shall only qualify for grants if he has been a contributing member of a Lodge under Mark Grand Lodge for at least three years. This period may be reduced to one year in certain cases at the discretion of the General Board. The General Board may grant sums to a brother or wife of a brother, or to a widow, sister or dependant of a deceased brother not exceeding £5,000, or with the consent of the Grand Master £10,000. |

| Lodges which at the time of application have contributed to the Fund not less than £500 or £250 for every 10 subscribing members, or fraction of 10, may qualify as Patrons or Vice-Patrons respectively. |
